‘’Phillip Lahm is a model pro & his brilliant career will continue after international retirement. Some way to bow out’’ FIFA President, Sepp blatter

Finest in his position:
Phillip Lahm is undoubtedly the best right back of this generation. After Brazilian legend Cafu retired many people started wondering if anyone can outshine his winnings. But soon after Lahm emerged at world screen, it was clear that he has all the abilities to reach the top. In his long career with FC Bayern, he has won almost every competition in which his team took part. His club honours includes 6 Bundesliga titles, 6 DFB-Pokal titles and a Champions League Honour.

International Career:
Phillip Lahm became the captain of German team in 2010. He inherited that accolade from Michael Ballack. At that time, Lahm was heavily criticised many believed he didn’t have the required abilities to captain such a team. But time has proved all his doubters wrong. Lahm made 113 appearances for Germany and had a bright career. He was included in World Cup team of the tournament in 2006 & 2010. He was also included in the UEFA team of the tournament in 2008 and 2012. He also made it to the Semi Final of the World Cup in 2006 and led his team to similar place in 2010 only to be beaten by then World Champions Spain. But the best was yet to come from this little Magician.

Road to Glory:
When Lahm carried his team to South America 2 months ago, there were many questions over German Side. Brazil was the clear favourite and Spain was also there. But it was the Germans whom made the best possible start. They thumped Portugal to a humiliating 4-0 defeat, a match in which Lahm played as a holding midfielder. Lahm remained in that position for remaining group matches and saw his team topping the group.

But after a rather close pre quarter final with Algeria, German coach decided to give German captain his favourite spot by playing him on the right back position. In the semi-final, the Germans ripped apart Samba side Brazil by 7-1. Lahm played a key part in that match and helped his team to continue their march towards glory. The final against Argentina was much tougher for Germans. After scoring in 112th minute, Germans finally achieved the most celebrated prize in world history.

So Phillip Lahm has decided to leave in glory. His country will never forget his services to them due to which Germany brought World Cup glory back after such a long wait.
