Top five goal scorers in the history of World Cup. Brazil and Germany dominate the list while there is only a single striker from France.

There is no current striker except Miroslav Klose who can beat Ronaldo’s record of 15 goals.

Here are the top five goal scorers in the history of World Cup. Brazil and Germany dominate the list while there is only a single striker from France.

PelĂ© (Retired Brazilian striker)
Pele who is regarded as one of the best striker in the history of football scored 12 goals in four World Cups, 1958, 1962, 1966, 1970. These goals were scored in 14 appearances.

Just Fontaine (Retired French striker)
The Frenchman scored 13 goals in only 6 games (1958 WC) and won the golden boot plus a bronze medal as France stood third.

Miroslav Klose (Plays for Germany and Lazio)
Miroslav Klose needs only a goal to beat Ronaldo. The German player might be playing his last international tournament this year as he has reached the retirement age.

Gerd Mueller (Retired German forward)
Mueller’s record was equaled when Klose scored the 14th goal in 2006 World Cup and currently looks set to break the record of Ronaldo in his fourth World Cup. Mueller scored 14 goals in only 13 appearances for Germany in two World Cups, 1970 and 1974.

Ronaldo (retired Brazilian forward)
Brazilian Ronaldo leads the list with 15 goals. Ronaldo scored 15 goals in 19 games in three World Cups, 1998, 2002, 2006.
