Manchester
City £44.5million bid for Benjamin Mendy has been rejected by Monaco, according
to SkySports.
The
Citizens have been eyeing him for the past few months and are now set to seal
his deal for a big transfer fee.
They
have recently signed full-back Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee
around £55m, which made the Englishman the most expensive defender in the
history of football.
Monaco
have demanded more than £50m for Mendy and Man City have been reluctant to
splash more money on him, however, now the reports believe that they are likely
to meet their demands.
The
Frenchman who won the Ligue 1 title in his first season has previously hinted a
move to Premier League.
The
23-year-old was exceptional for Monaco, he was also called up for France senior
side after his impressive performance for the club. He made 39 appearances for
the French side last season.
City
are also keeping tabs on Real Madrid full-back Danilo following the departure
of Gael Clichy. The Brazilian is a right-back but has played on the left side
for Real Madrid.
