Barcelona
star Lionel Messi has signed a new long term deal at Camp Nou, according to
latest reports.
Five
times Balloon d’Or champions Lionel Messi has committed to Barcelona for
another four years after signing a new contract extension recently.
The
deal has not been signed yet but have agreed. Once Messi returns to pre-season
training next week, Barca will announce the deal officially.
The
reports have suggested that the Argentine International has signed a four year
contract extension, which will keep him until 2021.
The
30-year-old has been exceptional for the Catalans side since his debut. He has
scored 507 goals in 583 games, also the leading scorer in La Liga history with
349.
The
reports linked him with a move to Premier League last month, especially
Manchester City and Chelsea were keeping eyes on him.
Barca are ready to kick off preseason campaign next week under new manager Ernesto Valverde.
Messi
have won 30 trophies with Barcelona, eight La Liga trophies, four Champions
League, and many other domestic cups.
Meanwhile,
Barca have re-signed their former attacker Gerard Deulofeu from English side Everton.
The club activated the buyback clause present in Deulofeu’s Everton contract.
