Man City have been keen to sign John Stones since the start of the summer but the demanding price from Everton hold the deal. However, Man City paid the asking price.

The Citizens have signed him for £47.5million on a six year deal and the total transfer fee could increase to £50million with add-ons. This would make him the most expensive defender in the history of football. He will share the record with current record holder David Luiz who moved to Paris Saint Germain for the same price few years ago.

City have given a rest to all the players today, so Stone will not be meeting his new teammates today.

This deal will also benefit Barnsley, the club from where Everton signed Stones.

Man City new manager Pep Guardiola has been going great in this summer window, he has now signed eight players including the two top signings of Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito.

The Englishman who becomes the eight summer signing for the Citizens will be wearing the no. 24 shirt in the coming season.
