Swansea
City are planning to bring Welsh midfielder Joe Allen back to the club from
Liverpool, according to SkySports.
Liverpool
signed Allen from Swansea in 2012 for a fee around £15million. He has only a
year remaining on his current Liverpool deal and it is expected that the Reds
will sell him if the right offer is put on the table.
The
26-year-old failed to cement his place at Anfield Stadium but has been a vital
asset for the Merseyside club.
Allen
had a great time with the Wales squad in European Championship 2016, where he
helped his side to reach the semifinals. He was also named in the UEFA Euro
team of tournament.
Liverpool
boss Jurgen Klopp has told Allen that he wants him to stay but cannot guarantee
the playing time which he demands.
Allen
made only eight starts under Klopp last season in Premier League.
With
Swansea looking to bolster their midfield this summer, they are likely to invest
£50million in the transfer market.
Swans boss Francesco Guidolin has already signed Leroy Fer, Mike Van der Horn and Tyler Reid so far this summer. Currently, the squad is in USA for the preseason tour.
