Premier
League giants Chelsea have suffered a big blow as their £32million offer
for Valencia star Andre Gomes was rejected earlier today, according to SkySports.
The
Blues are keen to seal Gomes deal but now they will have to increase the bid as
Valencia are demanding £42million.
Gomes
moved to Valencia in 2014 summer on loan from Benfica but last summer he made
his deal permanent for a fee around £12million.
The
reports claimed that Benfica are also going to receive 25 percent of the
transfer fee because of the clause in Gomes' contract.
Chelsea
new boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring Gomes to Stamford Bridge, however the
club is not yet prepared to increase the bid to £42m.
The
good news for Chelsea is that they are the only side interested in signing the Portuguese
midfielder.
Gomes
had a great last season in Spain, he scored five and assisted eight goals in 41
appearances in all campaigns.
The
22-year-old is currently in France for Euro 2016 and will be focusing on his
club level career once he is free from Euro next month. He started Portugal's first game against Iceland which ended as 1-1 draw yesterday.
