Tottenham
Hotspur have suffered a blow in their pursuit to sign Vincent Janssen as club AZ
Alkmaar has rejected their offer.
The
London side have been keeping tabs on the Dutch striker for the past several
weeks but their recent bid has been rejected by Dutch side AZ Alkmaar,
according to latest reports.
Spurs are still confident that they can seal the deal once the European Championship
ends next month.
The
Dutchman was given permission from the club to discuss the deal with Spurs earlier
this month. He spent a day in London with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Bundesliga
club Wolfsburg are also said to be keeping tabs on the player and could enter
the race next month.
Alkmaar
have no plans to sell their star striker unless there is a concrete bid on the
table. Spurs’ bid around £10million was rejected earlier today. The Dutch side
are demanding atleast £16million.
The
22-year-old is currently enjoying Euro Cup 2016 in France with the Netherland’s
squad.
Meanwhile,
Spurs have signed midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton as their first summer
transfer for an undisclosed fee.
The
former Celtic midfielder has signed a five year deal.
