Argentina
striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to leave Italian side Napoli as he denies to
extend contract, according to his agent.
The
former Real Madrid striker has denied to sign a new deal at the Serie A side as
eyes for a move.
Higuain
who has been exceptional form since his move to Italian side from Real Madrid
few years ago. He netted 36 goals in Serie A last season. The reports have revealed that
his buyout clause in current contact is £72million.
Atletico
Madrid manager Diego Simeone is searching for a top striker and Marca reported
that he could be planning to make a bid for Higuain.
Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with him in the past few years and both
could reignite their interest by entering the race.
The 28-year-old still has two year left on his current contract, meaning if Napoli succeeded in
keeping him then he would be going on a free transfer after two years.
His
agent further cleared it that his client is super professional and will
continue to give his best at Napoli but will not sign an extension.
Meanwhile on the other hand, the
Argentine recently failed to lift the Copa America Cup after suffering a defeat
from Chile in the final once again.
