Premier League outfit Arsenal
are preparing to complete the deal of long term target Yoann Gourcuff on a free
transfer, according to the Telegraph.
The
French playmaker has been one of the favourite of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger player but he never
succeeded in landing him. However, the French boss has now a clear cut chance
to secure his deal for free.
Gourcuff
was released from Lyon at the end of the last season after playing 128 games
for Lyon.
Meanwhile,
Liverpool are also in the race to sign him. The Reds have made enquiries but
the player is expected to prefer a move to the Gunners.
Also,
French media revealed that Rennes are likely to resign him later today. Also,
reports revealed that his former side Bordeaux are also interested in bringing
him back.
The
29-year-old made 80 appearances for Rennes and 95 for Bordeaux in all competitions.
The
French attacking midfielder who has made 31 appearances for France has also
played for Serie A side AC Milan before he moved to France to sign for Bordeaux. After
playing three seasons at Bordeaux, Lyon secured his move for £15million in 2010
where he netted 19 goals and assisted 29 times in 128 appearances in all campaigns.
