SkySports
have reported that Porto star player Jackson Martinez will be joining Spanish
side Atletico Madrid this summer.
The
Portuguese club Porto have confirmed that Martinez will join Atletico for a fee
around £24.8million.
It
is reported that the release clause between both the sides have been agreed for
the Portuguese league top scorer for the past three seasons.
Martinez
scored 21 goals in 29 league games last season.
The
28-year-old who has proved to be the best striker in Portuguese league was also
linked to a move to Premier League side Arsenal.
Martinez
scored 92 goals in 130 appearances for Porto in all competition.
The
Colombian striker was planning to join Premier League outfit, however the
relation of Atletico with Porto has played a vital role in convincing him to
join the La Liga side.
Atletico
signed Radamel Falcao and Diego Costa from Porto in the past and both of them
played successful years.
Martinez told reporters recently:
“I am going there for four years, but I still don't know when I will be introduced.”
He further added that he is keen to play for the Spanish side.
The
reports strongly claimed that Serie A side AC Milan was also in the race but
the deal failed to conclude.
