Liverpool
are set to seal the deal of Belgian striker Christian Benteke from Aston
Villa, according to SkySports.
The
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers who has been keeping tabs on him for the past few
months is now set to seal his deal as the reports revealed that Liverpool have
offered £32.5million release fee for Benteke. This deal would become the second
most expensive transfer in the history of Liverpool.
The
Belgian striker who scored 12 goals in 12 Premier League matches last season
helped Villa to keep his side in the Premier League.
Villa
manager Tim Sherwood said that he has no plans to sell his star man, however if
a release clause is met then he would allow him to leave. With now Liverpool
have offered the release clause the Villain are likely to accept the offer and
soon the Belgian will be joining the Reds on their preseason tour.
The
6ft 3in striker is expected to join the Reds next week.
Liverpool
suffered with striking issues last season and with the arrival of
Villa star man the Reds can regain their striking abilities.
Meanwhile,
the Reds also now have Divock Origi back from his loan spell at Lille. The young
Belgian who impressed at the Word Cup could also be used in the striking role.
