Premier League Champions Chelsea are leading the race to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir
Begovic, according to the London
Evening Standard.
The
London outfit have been eyeing for Petr Cech’s replacement who recently left the
Stamford Bridge side for Arsenal.

The
veteran stopper joined the Gunners after having a struggling season. With the departure
of Cech Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen to sign a new stopper and the
latest reports claim that Stoke City’s Begovic is likely to be the next deal for the Blues.
The
reports also revealed that Manchester United have also been keeping tabs on
him.
The
London Evening Standard believe that the
agreement has been reached and soon the player will be moving for the medical. A
four year deal with £75k-a-week wage is currently in progress, as per the reports.
While
Chelsea’s initial bid which was around £6 million was rejected by Stoke, according
to Daily
Star. But the Evening Standard believe that the recent £8 million deal
has been accepted.
The
Bosnia and Herzegovina star has made more than 170 appearances for the Potters
since his move from Portsmouth in 2010.
The
28-year-old will definitely have to fight Thibaut Courtois for the first team
role if he joins Chelsea.
