Falcao
who is now free from international duty as Colombia failed to beat Argentina
in the quarter final of Copa America last week.
The
Colombian who played last season at Manchester United scored only four goals for
them in the Premier League campaign. Despite
of his poor season in Premier League Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been keen to
seal his deal. Mourinho is said to be a
big admirer of Falcao since his time at Porto.
The
29-year-old will be teaming up with his former teammates once again. Diego
Costa, Filipe Luis and Thibaut Courtois all played along with Falcao at
Atletico Madrid. While his international teammate Juan Cuadrado is also at Stamford
Bridge.
Falcao
revealed his happiness on agreeing a deal with Chelsea. He said: “I am
very happy to be joining Chelsea and can't wait to start training and help with
our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe.”
Costa
and Falcao will now be fighting for the striking role at Stamford Bridge next season.
However, Costa would definitely be preferred ahead of Falcao as he proved himself
in the last season which was his debut season at Chelsea.
