Benitez is still keen to convince the Argentinean striker who is currently playing for his country at Copa America.

Benzema has already been told to look for a new club as the new manager has no plans to keep him at Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema who earns £150,000-a-week netted 22 goals in 45 games for Los Blancos last term.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been strongly linked with Benzema in the past few weeks. He is planning to make him his first summer signing by splashing £25 million.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Liverpool are also said to be interested in his move. Liverpool might not take interest anymore as they have landed Roberto Firmino earlier today.
