Arsenal
have submitted a bid for former Real Madrid star Gonzalo Higuain as the reports
revealed recently that he is likely to leave Napoli this summer.
Arsenal have already been in link with the Argentine international in the past but never
concluded a deal. However, the recent reports claimed that the striker is now eyeing
to join a Premier League club this summer.
Arsene
Wenger was keen to sign him before his move to Napoli from Real Madrid few
years ago.
His
agent who is his father revealed that several top Euorpean clubs are taking
interest in his son’s move.
His
father Jorge Higuain told El Crack Deportivo: “There are a lot of teams
interested in Gonzalo.”
Napoli
who paid €40 million for his move from Spanish giants Real Madrid two years ago
are keen to keep him at Stadio San Paolo.
Higuain
still have three years left on his contract with the Serie A club and his father believes that
he will not go anywhere.
Higuain
has scored 27 goals in all campaigns for the Italians side this seaosn. Out of 27, 16 in 35
Serie A appearances.
Napoli are currently on fourth place, three points behind Lazio and with two games left this season they might have to play next season without Champions League football.
