Arsenal
have suffered a big blow after coming to know that long term target Sami
Khedira of Real Madrid have preferred a move to Schalke over Gunners.
Sami
Khedira has been strongly linked with the Gunners since the last summer. But
the recent reports have given Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger a blow as the
midfielder has agreed to sign for the German side Schalke on a free transfer in the summer window.
Khedira
will be out of contract at the end of the season and he has not agreed a new
deal with the Spanish giants due to the lack of playing time.
Khedira
has started only three La Liga games so far this season.
Arsenal boss Arsene
Wenger is eyeing a defensive midfielder for the summer move and with Khedira’s
latest decision, the Frenchman will now look to other midfielders. Chelsea
and Bayern Munich were also keeping tabs on the German star.
The
27-year-old will now return to home after spending five years in Spain.
Meanwhile,
Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon and Morgan
Schneiderlin of Southampton.
Schneiderlin’s deal has been agreed, according to several reports. The French midfielder is likely to sign for the North London side in the summer window.
