Liverpool
have confirmed officially that attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho has
signed a new long term deal at Anfield. The Brazilian attacker has sealed a
five year deal as per the reports.
The
22-year-old has been impressive for the Reds for the past few months. He lost his
form in the start but managed to get back to his feet and finally has taken a big
responsibility in an attacking role.
Mirror
reported last night that Coutinho has signed a new improved deal which will
keep him until 2020.
Coutinho
has netted 10 goals in 81 appearances since his move from Inter Milan two years
ago. This season, he has scored 2 and assisted 4 in 17 starts in the Premier League.
Coutinho
told Liverpool's official website: “I'm
really happy. It's a dream come true playing for this great club and being part
of this squad.”
The
former Serie A player is very happy after signing a new deal at Liverpool. He feels
secure now.
“Today I've committed my future to
the club and for this I'm feeling very pleased.”
He
thanked and admired the club and the fans for their continuous support and
love.
“This
club is great and the fans have always supported me, so I've been eager to sign
this new deal since conversations started. Today is a very happy day.”
Liverpool
are the side which gave him a regular spot in the team, he used to be a bench
warmer at Inter Milan.
He
added in the end by saying that Liverpool is a big family and he is very happy
to be a part of it.
“Liverpool is a big family and I'm a
happy person here.”
