Real
Madrid’s winning streak came to an end this Sunday Evening with their loss
against Valencia in a La Liga clash. Real Madrid were unbeaten in 22 games in all competitions
this season.
Valencia
manager Nuno Espirito Santo played Alvaro Negredo and Paco Alcacer together in
a strike partnership while at the other end he used an unorthodox defence
formation.
Cristiano Ronaldo continued his great form and scored his 26th goal of La Liga which was scored in the 13th minute from the penalty spot. But the Portuguese star was not able to contribute much in the rest of the match.
However, the home side showed their full potential and gave very difficult time to the Los Blancos' players in creating chances. Valencia showed their good
organisation and they remained compact.
Nicolas
Otamendi was no doubt the standout performer for Valencia who scored the winner
for his team with a powerful header on 66th minute and also denied Madrid attempts on goal with his extraordinary challenges. Tackle on Gareth Bale on
the edge of six yard box was arguably the most important tackle of the match.
His clearance at 85th minute was also a vital clearance.
This
match was full of emotions as Madrid took several attempt on goals to get an
equiliser but was denied by Valencia’s great defending.
Valencia’s
surprise win was a deserving one and it opens up the race to the title completely.
