Tottenham
Hotspur are set to beat several top Eurpoean clubs in the race to sign Porto
striker Jackson Martinez, according to Spanish media Fichajes.
Jackson
Martinez has been linked strongly with a move away from Portuguese side but the
reports have always proved to be rumours in the end. But now it seems to be a real
interest between the clubs over the move of the Colombian striker.
Spurs
will be short of strikers as they have already planned to offload Roberto Soldado
and Emmanuel Adebayor in the summer. Martinez
decided to stay at Porto in the past but now is set to move to England but
after this season.
Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool were also interested several times in his move
in the past. Serie A side AC Milan have also been linked with him, however they
are unable to pay his transfer fee.
However,
Spurs will have to play with Harry Kane for the remainder of the season as the
Colombian wants to complete this season in Portugal.
Martinez
is a proven goal machine. The 28-year-old has netted 80 goals in 115 appearances
for Porto since his move in 2012. He has netted 20 goals in 24 appearances so
far this season.
