Arsenal
are set to announce the deal of centre-back Gabriel Paulista as the player is
currently undergoing a medical in London.
Yesterday,
it was confirmed that the deal was agreed between Arsenal and Villarreal. BBC
reported that the fee is around £15million.
While
today, Daily Express revealed that the player is likely to pass his medical ahead
of his proposed move to Arsenal from Spanish side Villarreal.
The
24-year-old was in link with the Gunners since long and finally Arsenal boss Arsene
Wenger is going to give a big news after the confirmation of the player in the coming hours.
The
Brazilian would be a great addition to the London side’s squad. Laurent
Koscielny and Per Mertesacker are the only senior centre-backs at the moment. With
the addition of Paulista, the defensive problems are likely to be resolved. While
Nacho Monreal who has been linked with a move away from Emirates has been a
vital player especially in the absence of Koscielny.
Paulista is likely to be the replacement of Thomas Vermaelen who joined Barcelona in the summer. He is an experienced defender and could take the Belgian’s duty easily with his physic and strength.
