Arsenal
manager Arsene Wenger is eyeing Espanyol defender Hector Moreno as the Gunners
look to strength their defensive area.
It
is not the first news that is linking a defender with Arsenal, the rumours linking
Arsenal to defenders is now so common. Several centre-back have been spotted by
Wenger, however no deal has been concluded yet.
The
recent reports from Spain suggest that the Gunners have shortlisted another
centre-half Moreno for this month and Wenger sent scout Brian McDermott to keep an eye
on him in a Copa del Rey game against Valencia.
The
Mexican centre-half is also a target of several other Premier League sides
including Tottenham Hotspurs, Everton, Hull City and Swansea City.
The
26-year-old played an important part for his national side in the last summer’s
World Cup. However, he has only made six appearance for the La Liga side so far
this season due to injury which was recovered recently.
Moreno
will be out of contract in the summer of 2016. Reports believe that £6million
would be enough to secure the services of the Mexican star.
With
Mathieu Debuchy out again with a shoulder injury for almost three months, the
French boss really needs a defender.
Debuchy
dislocated his shoulder against Stoke City in a Premier League clash on last
weekend.
