German
side Schalke have agreed to sign Manchester City struggling centre-back Matija
Nastasic on a loan deal, as per BBC reports.
BBC
reported that the Bundesliga outfit and Premier League side have reached an
agreement for a loan move of Matija Nastasic for the remainder of the season.
The
21-year-old centre-half has failed to impress the Chilean manager Manuel
Pellegrini and spent most of his time away from first team action.
Schalke
posted on twitter: “Matija Nastasic to the Royal Blues. Schalke get Serbia
international on loan.”
The
Serbian defender will complete his loan move in the coming few days.
Arsenal
and West Ham United were also keeping tabs on his situation, however, they will
now have to look for other defenders in the market.
Nastasic Manchester City career:
Nastasic
joined Manchester City on a five year deal from Fiorentina in 2012. He has
netted a goal in his 51 appearances for the Citizens.
This
season, he has only made one appearance which was against Arsenal in Community
Shield game before the start of the Premier League campaign.
The
Serbian player has never been a regular player for the Citizens even when
Roberto Mancini was in charge. But comparing his days to current season, he is surely
lacking playing time but hopefully will be offered at Schalke.
