There
were rumors that Southampton’s striker Jay Rodriguez might leave the club in
this transfer window.
However,
Saints manager Ronald Koeman ruled out this rumour by saying that Rodriguez is
not going anywhere from St. Mary Stadium. He further said that Rodriguez is not
for sale and there is no chance that the club will sell him.
The
25-year-old English forward is wanted by several top Premier League sides but
Ronald Koeman is determined and not willing to sell the player at any cost.
According
to The Daily Star, Rodriguez might transfer to Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur as both the clubs are quit interested in him.
However,
Rodreguez did not feature this season due to his serious knee injury which he
picked up last season. He did not play under Koeman’s leadership either.
Still,
the boss sees him as valuable asset and wants to keep him at the club. He said
that the transfer rumours of Rodriguez are not true, he has a contract and he is
not going before the end of his contract time.
The
Englishman was the top scorer for the Barclays Premier League outfit last
season.
Rodriguez return after injury will definitely effect Southampton’s performance this season. However, they performed impressively well in this season without Rodriguez.
