Chelsea
and Arsenal are ready to fight for Barcelona right-back Dani Alves as the Brazilian
has planned to leave Camp Nou.
Express
reported that the London sides Chelsea and Arsenal will go head to head to
acquire Daniel Alves services.
Barcelona
full-back will be out of contract at the end of the season and has no plans to
sign a new deal.
Alves
has already told last year that he will leave this month for Premier League after
spending several successful years in Spain.
While
Manchester United are also interested in Alves, according to former Liverpool midfielder
Jamie Redknapp.
Redknapp
believes that Alves is still a quality player despite of his age factor.
Barcelona
will be eyeing to sell him this month else he will leave on a free transfer in
the summer window.
Manchester
United boss is already keen on Everton full-back Seamus Coleman. But getting an
experienced defender will add more depth to United squad, however it will not
be easy as Chelsea and Arsenal also in the race.
Redknapp
told DailyMail: “Barcelona’s Alves isn’t the force he used to be, but at 31, he
isn’t washed up yet. I expect English clubs to push hard.”
Redknapp
also added that Alves is in similar position like Steven Gerrard.
“Stevie
is more interesting; he can still do a job for Liverpool and I hope he stays,
but he may feel the criticism has become unbearable.”
The
former Liverpool player wants Gerrard to stay and sign a new deal at Anfield.
