Liverpool
have reportedly entered the race to sign Arsenal target Virgil van Dijk from Scottish
side Celtic.
Daily
Express reported that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will give a tough time to
Arsenal as they are hoping to secure the services of the young Dutch defender
in January.
The
Gunners have shortlisted many defenders for the upcoming window and van Dijk is
the recent addition in the list. Arsenal boss Arsenal Wenger have also targeted
Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels and Aston Villa centre-back Ron
Vlarr for the winter market.
The
23-year-old has also been eyed by Tottenham Hotspurs and West Ham United,
according to reports.
The
Dutchman who is yet to make a debut for Netherlands will surely be eyeing a
move to Premier League with three top sides interested in his services.
He
has been a regular for Celtic since his move last year. He has scored 11 goals
in 76 games for the Scottish side.
Van Dijk is expected to be moving away from Scotland next month.
While
on the other hand former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie believes that he would
be joining a team like West Ham United.
Despite of big team interested in Celtic’s centre-half, McAvennie thinks that in the end he will move to a mid-table side.
