Arsenal
boss Arsene Wenger revealed the following injury updates ahead of Southampton
clash tomorrow.
With
a tough 2014 end, Arsenal will start the New Year with a new name on the
sidelines. Striker Danny Welbeck has suffered a thigh injury and will not be available
for tomorrow’s clash. However, Wenger has confirmed that his injury his minor
and will return soon. Welbeck suffered the injury in a win over West Ham United last weekend.
Meanwhile,
midfielder Aaron Ramsey is closing on return along with striker Yaya Sanoga but
will not be rushed tomorrow, according to the boss.
Ramsey
has been out since the start of December with a hamstring injury. Tomas Rosicky
is likely to take Ramsey’s position in the squad.
Winger Theo Walcott would be starting the game tomorrow. The Englishman returned a
week ago but was an unused substitute in the Gunners’ last three fixtures.
While
on the other hand Olivier Giroud will serve his second ban after receiving a
red card against Queens Park Rangers last week. Lukas Podolski who is in link with a move away from Emirates could take a
starting role as all the strikers are out.
The
rest injury list remains the same with trio midfielders Mesut Ozil, Mikel
Arteta and Jack Wilshere all remain out along with attacker Serge
Gnabry.
