At a time when Manchester City are about to fight for their life against CSKA Moscow amid claims that the club have not what it takes to succeed on the highest level in European football, recent list indicated by FORBES reveals that the club has two of the top 60 highest paid athletes of World in their ranks.

While Sergio Aguero is ranked at the 44th place just 1 position behind his Manchester United neighbor Wayne Rooney, Yaya Toure amid all the claims he made in summer regarding the treatment he received from Manchester City, is sitting comfortably at the 59th spot in the World’s highest paid athletes list.
At an age of 31 with 1 year left on his Manchester City contract, Yaya Toure, by virtue of his agent, tried to make the most of the situation when the Manchester City board were alleged by the Ivory Coast International that the Dubai based ownership forget to wish him on his birthday. After that, the matter lingered all over the summer transfer window before Toure committed his future to the Manchester based club.
Yaya Toure is the 3rd highest paid footballer in Premier League this year.
Toure whose contract expires next summer was un-happy and as a result, his performance suffered during the World Cup. He even alleged Manchester City that the Citizens denied him a chance of meeting his ailing brother, Ibrahim, during this pre-season. Ibrahim, another Toure with football in his blood, and the youngest of the three, died this summer after a long battle with cancer. As a result, Toure alleged that the Manchester City board don’t value him.
However, as the recent reports published by Forbes suggest, the Ivorian has no reason to moan, especially claiming that City don’t value him, as the former Barcelona player is the highest paid African footballer this year.
Yaya Toure, at the age of 31, is earning even more than Mesut Ozil, Frank Ribery and Luis Suarez.
Getting a handsome 21.7million dollars of his Manchester City contract annually, just 2 million less than what Aguero is earning at the helm, Yaya Toure is the 3rd highest paid footballer in Premier League last season. Earning that amount of money which supersedes him to players like Ozil (Arsenal) and Ribery (Bayern Munich) who are getting less paid than him in their respective clubs. Therefore, City value home very highly amongst their ranks.
