Becoming
the latest casualty of the International break, Real Madrid star Luka Modric is
out for a lengthy period in his team’s match against Italy. He was substituted
on the 27th minute indicating the matter wasn’t that simple.
Modric
is in fine form this season and it is the result of his and Toni Kroos combo
that Real Madrid midfield and attack is on the same wavelength. However, just one week after ensuring that Real Madrid would be going towards the knockout stage
of UEFA Champions League, the midfielder is expected to be out for a long time.
Since
his multimillion move from Tottenham to Real Madrid which paved the way for
Gareth Bale to do the same, Luka Modric has been a consistent performer for the
reigning European Champions. However, just when the club world cup is about to
start and Real Madrid gunning to become the best club in World, their midfield
maestro is out for at-least a month.
And
he was on top of his form, like the rest of his Real Madrid team-mates as a
goal and two assists from his deep lying role in the midfield is a proof that how
far the Croatian born midfielder has come since joining the Los Blancos.
Looking
at his direct replacement, the German Sami Khedira is a genuine contender to
replace him first hand as the midfielder was short of time since the end of World
Cup. Since the departure of Xabi Alonso and the arrival of Toni Kroos at
Santiago Bernabeu, Sami Khedira was down in the picking list of Carlo
Ancelloti. However, with this recent spectacle, he might show his class once
again.
Arsenal won’t be much happy with the situation as their Premier League form, along with their midfielder’s performances have detoriated this season. Sami Khedira who has been in strong link with the Gunners might stay in Spain as Modric's injury will give him a chance to take his place back in the starting eleven.
