Barcelona paid £75million which made the Uruguayan the third most expensive player in the history of football just behind Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Luis
Suarez scored 31 goals in 33 Premier League games for Liverpool last season and also won
Premier League player of the year award (POTY). His goal scoring ability helped
Liverpool to finish second in the league which also secured a Champions League spot
after five years.
The
27-year-old striker believes that he did all for Liverpool during his stay at
Anfield. And giving such amount of goals was the reason behind Barcelona's interest in him.
Suarez
told Barca TV: “I appreciate all the work the team did. But I missed six
matches and scored all those goals in the Premier League without being the
penalty taker.”
“I
really could leave happy because if I hadn't had the attitude and mentality to
lead the team, I don't think Liverpool would have done as well as they did.”
It
is clear that last season it was Suarez who took Liverpool to the sky and it
was his dream to play for Barcelona so it is not a sad moment that he left as a
happy man because he gave all he could.
He
further added: “Getting back into the Champions League was another target I had
in mind.”
Recently, Suarez
scored two goals against Oman for Uruguay in a friendly game, he is set to
return to action in few weeks and is showing that he is still in form.
