The Liverpool midfielder will be out of contract after this season. The Englishman
who announced his retirement from international football in July is currently
playing his 17th season for Liverpool.
The
34-year-old joined Liverpool academy at the age of nine, he has made 678 appearances
for the Anfield side.
Gerrard
has also said that he has no plans to retire from club football next summer.
The
Reds captain told the Daily Mail: “I can only worry about this season because
I'm only contracted until May.”
He
also added that he will have to wait and see what the club decides for his
future.
Gerrard
has played all Premier League and Champions League so far this season and has
been impressive in most of the games.
While
on the other side, Gerrard defended Liverpool’s new striker Mario Balotelli who
is struggling in front of goals. He has scored only 2 goals in 12 appearances.
Former
Liverpool defender and current SkySports pundit Jamie Carragher called his
transfer as A Panic Buy. But Gerrad
disagreed with his former teammate and told that its too early to say. He has played only 12 games and he will take time to settle.
“You
have to respect Jamie's opinion, he knows football but it's too early to get on
Mario's back”, Gerrard said.
Balotelli
is working hard at Melwood, he is doing extra training to prove himself.
