The Red Devils new boss Louis van Gaal has already signed a left-back Luke Shaw for a price around £27 million in summer window. The Dutch manager is planning to sign Cole on short term basis if his current side AS Roma put him on sale in January.

Reports have suggested that the Roma manager Rudi Garcia is planning to sell the 33-year-old Englishman in the Winter Transfer Window. Cole has not fit into the squad according to Garcia. The boss have also told the club to find his replacement.

Cole who was criticised after his first half performances against the German giants Bayern Munich in a Champions League group game is also keen to return to Premier League.

While on the other side Luke Shaw will get some competition from Cole who has already proved in the Premier League. United boss LVG considers him as one of the best left-back of his generation.

The Red Devils are also having injury problems this season with their defensive line and looks like Cole will be a perfect one if he agrees to join United.

Cole joined Roma on a free transfer in summer. He has played five game for the Italian side.
