In
this early season fixture between the two London giants, it was Chelsea who
overcome the Gunners as once again Jose Mourinho had the last laugh against
Arsene Wenger. While last time the match happened on the Bridge was headlined
by controversies, this match seemed streamline as far as the Referee’s booking
list is concerned. Chelsea were the clear favourites after Eden Hazard converted the
penalty and a Diego Costa lob over the Arsenal keeper sealed the match for
Chelsea. Arsenal had their chances however they refused to
capitalize.

Here
are the 5 things we learnt from this particular fixture:
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is versatile
Since
starting the season dismantling the opponents in style, Jose Mourinho was back
in his groove for which he is known around the globe. This Chelsea team looked
like a contrast to the one that put 6 past Everton away from home however the
result was the only thing similar between these two matches. And with a season
to mark his Chelsea return, it looks like Mourinho has got his choice of
players as Chelsea were better than Arsenal in all departments.
Chelsea have all the abilities to
be the new-invincible
If
you compare the Arsenal invincible team that eclipsed the Premier League with
the current Chelsea side, there are lot of similarities in addition to the
unbeaten run at the start of it. While Arsenal had muscular players like Thiery Henry
in attack and Sol Campbell in their
defense, Chelsea have same figures with Costa adding to it in the attack. This
was visible in whole of today’s 90 minutes as Arsenal failed to run over the
Chelsea side. So even if it is the start, but with fixtures like Manchester
City and Arsenal behind them, there are only a few teams that can disturb the
momentum of this Mourinho side.
Welbeck was good - - - from an
average bunch
Apart
from Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck who both played fairly good, big players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez
were absent in the match in terms of performance. It is always visible
that teams like Chelsea will attack the lack of physicality of Arsenal, still
Arsenal fell to this trap once again as players like Nemanja Matic and Gary Cahill proved
their worth once again. Apart from the missed chances when the score was still
1-0, there were only a few positives for Arsenal which were not utilized in the right way.
Record remains intact as far as
Mourinho is concerned
It
was the 12th side Mourinho has faced Arsene Wenger, and the
result remains the same as far as Mourinho is concerned. Although he started
his spell late in the English football in comparison to that of the French manager Wenger, still Mourinho has always an upper edge in terms of
psychological battle. So 12 out of 12 with more still to come. Best of Luck Mr.
Wenger for future.
Ozil again absent in an important
match
Since
signing for Arsenal last summer, Mesut Ozil has failed to perform in important games and that is
the reason why Arsenal have won just one out of the 7 fixtures against the top 4
sides. Although Chelsea were dominant as the score-card simply suggested at the
end of match, Arsenal have had their fair share of possession however in those
areas where they seemed to threaten Chelsea. The reason for creating
less or no straight out chances were the absence of their start signatures as
both Sanchez and Ozil failed to perform with Ozil was down the tunnel.
