For Liverpool FC, highly rated midfielder Jordan Rossiter made his 1st start. He became the 2nd youngest player to play for Liverpool in this competition.

Formerly known as Carling Cup, this tournament hasn’t been in top priorities for any big team in English Premier League. Most of the top sides in English football arsenal focus on rather glamorous and worthy tournaments. With the prize money of a minor £100,000, comparing to £2 Million prize money of FA Cup even, no manager wants to go with full throttle in Capital One Cup. Voices have been raised against with many wanted to remove this tournament from their fixtures list.

But history shows this event may not be the most glamorous one, but it is vital to nourish the future talents in club football. When the teams allow their young guns to have a go, it provides all sorts of opportunities for those who rarely gets a chance to start in League games for their clubs. Due to busy schedule of League and Champions League, top sides usually gives chance to youngsters to shine in this specific competition.

Fabregas, Beckham, Scholes, Terry and many other legendary football icons made their debuts via this competition. Having been low on the pile for their respective clubs, this tournament allowed them to showcase their talent, and rest is history.

With the Capital One already started yesterday, many high rated youngsters took part in a senior squad for their 1st times.

For Liverpool FC, highly rated midfielder Jordan Rossiter made his 1st start. He became the 2nd youngest player to play for Liverpool in this competition. Rossiter has impressed everyone while playing for Liverpool U-21 side and will certainly be a player to watch.

Ajayi is another young talent coming from Arsenal ranks. Although he didn’t got a start, but this defender is certainly an exciting prospect under Arsene Wenger. Ajayi and several other youngsters from different sides will finally get game time, thanks to this competition.

So maybe one might not see big names in Capital One Cup, but it’s certainly a chance for that youngster who wants to impress his manager and sneak into a regular starting XI spot.
