United won 2 – 1 against West Ham with 10 men as Englishman Wayne Rooney received a red card after tackling West Ham winger Stuart Downing intentionally.
This
incident occurred on the 60th minute of the game when Rooney
challenged Downing intentionally, United were already leading by two goals to
nil.
United managed to hold West Ham for 30 minutes before celebrating Louis van Gaal's second win of the season.
