Sturridge
who played 89 minutes against Norway in a friendly game at Wembley stadium on
Wednesday might miss this clash according to several reports.
While the
Mirror reported that the Englishman is suffering with a minor knock in his
thigh and is expected to be back in action before Monday’s fixture.
If
the 24-year-old failed to recover before the game then England boss Roy Hodgson
will consider giving Sturridge's clubmate Rickie Lambert or Arsenal new signing
Danny Welbeck a chance along with skipper Wayne Rooney.
Meanwhile,
West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster and Newcastle United’s Jack Colback both are
out with injury problems. 19 man were present on today’s training.
While
on the other side, Chelsea center-back Gary Cahill is confident that beating
Switzerland will be a good achievement as it’s the most important fixture of
the group.
Cahill
said: “Switzerland will be confident, but it is a great
opportunity to bounce back from a disappointing summer (World Cup).”
The
rest teams are Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania and San Marino which are easy as
compared to Switzerland.
