After
suffering successive defeats from Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad, many
started to think whether this year will be the repeat of last year when Real Madrid won the Champions League but were classified as the 3rd best team in
Spain as both Atletico and Barcelona got the better of him. However since
unleashing themselves on Basel in which they scored 5 past the Swiss side, the
Spanish Champions gone one better yesterday
as they dismantled the Deportivo side away from home.

Here are the 5 things we learnt from this fixture:
Deportivo were poor --- Real were
GOOD:
In
a surprising turn of events last night, Madrid managed to put three past their
opponents in a matter of 45 minutes. Although the 1st two goals were an example
of shear brilliance by the players who share 145million transfer fees between
them --- James and Ronaldo --- still it was the buildup to these goals where
Deportivo were stagnant like a water in a pot. They allowed too much space to
the Real Madrid team and with the quality and “quantity of quality” Real Madrid
have in them, it all seemed too easy for the 10times Champions League winners.
Ronaldo is irreplaceable for
Madrid:
With
all the week to the buildup of this match flooded with Ronaldo moving to
Manchester United rumors, it seemed on the pitch that the Portuguese doesn’t
put much heed there and keep on doing what he does best – score goals. From his
sublime header which has become his trademark now to his hat-trick goal, the
Portuguese showed why he is one of the best out there.
Left foot masters:
Out
of the 8 goals Real Madrid scored at the Estadio Riazor, 6 of them have come
from left foot with the likes of Bale, James and Hernandez playing their part
well. Although Hernandez played only 13 minutes, still the Mexican played his
part and washed his hands with the river of goals that was flowing there at
Deportivo.
Records were broken:
After
beating their opponents by 8-2, Real Madrid became the 5th team in La LIGA
history to put 8 past against an opponent in one match. The other 4 teams
include Barcelona, Athletic, Deportivo and Valladolid.
Real
8-2 win against Deportivo is their biggest ever away win since the start of LA
LIGA. With an 8-2 rout of Deportivo, Iker Casillas has won 312 games in his LA
LIGA career at Real Madrid.
Hernandez proved his worth:
After
an unlikely career at Manchester United where his role was limited to more of a
super-sub, most people thought that the Mexican won’t get much playing time as
the trio of BBC was difficult to break into it. However with the two goals he
scored and both of them were scorchers, Hernandez had put lid to rumors that he
won’t get much playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
