Liverpool
summer transfer spree is not coming to an end in the near future. After the
departure of Luis Suarez, Brendan Rodgers is trying to make the most of his
money amid strengthening his squad. Lovren Origi and Manquillo are the most
recent additions to this Liverpool Squad. Liverpool’s first priority seems to
be their defence and after adding significant players to that position, now Brendan
Rodgers is looking for a regular goal scoring striker. And one of the players
which is linked with Liverpool recently is Argentine Ezequiel Lavezzi.
After signing David Luiz for £50million, PSG is currently looking to offload some of their players to make way for Angel Di Maria as Real Madrid have demanded a fee in the region of £63 Million for their Winger. So Lavezzi seems to be on his way out of the French Club. Liverpool have shown their interest in the Argentine and looking to match the asking price of PSG for the Winger/Striker. But Lavezzi doesn’t have a record which can faze any of Liverpool’ opponents.
At 29 years of age,
it is highly unlikely LFC will splash the cash on the former Napoli man.
Last
season, Lavezzi appeared in 32 matches for the French Side. During that period,
he managed to score 9 goals. He was not a star player in his team with the
likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cavani also in the same side. Besides, he managed 0
assists in the whole season which also puts a huge question mark on whether or
not Liverpool should go for him. Lavezzi’ contribution to goals in 2012-13
season was also limited. He managed only 3 goals that season with 4 assists. If
we compare Liverpool Players in with Lavezzi, it is easy to say which got the
better records.

Previous
season, Suarez 31, Sturridge 21 and Gerrard 13 all managed more goals than the
PSG Winger. Even the players which Liverpool have brought in during this
transfer window also portrays a better picture than the 29 year old.
Besides,
with 29 year of age, Lavezzi will only get old and find it difficult to adapt
to LFC style of play. The players which Liverpool have already got in his
position are capable enough to perform better. And what Liverpool need at the
moment is a regular goal scoring striker. After the departure of Luis Suarez,
Liverpool need a goal poacher. Lavezzi can run onto defenders but his goal
scoring abilities will always be limited. So Brendan Rodgers has to think twice
before making him his "Marquee Signing".
