Chelsea 2014-15 Premier League Season Preview: with new signings Drogba, Fabregas and Costa and with all the departures what Chelseacan do this season.

When Jose Mourinho was brought into Stamford Bridge last season, hopes were sky high from the Portuguese. The Special One restructured the squad given to him by Rafael Benitez. It was a season of close misses for Chelsea as they were eliminated in Semi Final of Champions League and had to settle at third position in Premier League.

Last season, there strikers were misfiring and goals were few and far between them. Eto’o, Torres and Demba Ba shared 19 goals between them which was far from convincing. Most of their goals came from midfield. Such a lack lustre performance from strikers eventually cost them the title.

Arrivals:
Jose Mourinho’s top priority in summer transfer window was to get a world class striker. After spending a superb season with Atletico Madrid, Diego Costa was on his radar. And without much trouble, Jose was successful to get the Spaniard for a fee of £32million. Costa scored 27 goals in La Liga last season which helped Atletico to grab La Liga title after 18 years. His terrific performances continued in Champions League as well which helped Atletico Madrid to reach the final.

Another star arrival is in the form of Cesc Fabregas. The former Gunner had a good season with Barcelona. But with the arrival of Ivan Rakitic at Camp Nou, his position was always in jeopardy. Fabregas signed for Chelsea for a reported fee of £26.6million. Fabregas is joined by Felipe Luis, Mario Pasalic and Didier Drogba as the new signings of Jose Mourinho. Also Returning from loan is Goal keeper Thibaut Courtois.

By bringing in the likes of Fabregas, Costa and Courtois, Chelsea have all the right to be classified as Premier League top seeded side next season.

Departures:
The Players which have left Stamford Bridge in this transfer window makes a long list. The Chelsea Manager staged a major cleaning process in his team. David Luiz, Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba are among those players which have been sold already by Jose Mourinho. While
Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Samuel Eto'o all were released after the end of last season.

By Selling Mata, De Bryune, Lukaku and Luiz, Chelsea have made 100million pounds only from departures this transfer window.

2014-15 Season:
So Jose Mourinho has filled every weak position of his team with a strong player. He has been given entire freedom by Owner Roman Abramovich and Jose has built the team his way. Despite of some concerns regarding the departure of players like Lukaku and Luiz, Jose has complete faith in his squad.

Coming season will be interesting to watch for Chelsea fans. They are the strongest team in Premier League on paper. They have an unmatched midfield with quality players like Hazard, Oscar, Fabregas, and Matic and on and on. The return of King Didier Drogba will surely give new life to Chelsea’s stumbling attack. But Diego Costa will surely be the star striker for Chelsea coming season. The Spaniard has a stunning pre-season with the Blues in which he scored goals for fun. Defence will nearly the same as of last season but add left back Felipe Luis to it. One thing which can be key to Chelsea’s success coming season is their squad depth. They have a house full of quality midfielders and no of defenders.

Chelsea are the favourites to land Premier League title this season. After a rather unlikely trophy less season for Jose Mourinho, the Blues will be hungry to land Premier League title this season. They have to face severe competition but in the end, they might just have what it takes to be English Champions.
