Arsenal
have revealed that three of their first team players Per Mertesacker, Lukas
Podolski and Mesut Ozil are set to miss the start of the season.
Arsenal boss Arsenal Wenger has told earlier today that World Cup winners Per
Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Mesut Ozil all are set to miss the starting
game of the Premier League.
The
Germans are currently enjoying their vacations after the World Cup victory and
will be rejoining Arsenal squad on 11th August.
Wenger
told: “Our World Cup winners are back on the 11th August. They will miss the
start of the Premier League.”
There
is no injury concerns regarding the players but due to vacations they are out
of practice and won’t appear atleast in the starting game against Crystal
Palace.
Arsenal
boss added that Podolski and Ozil can be replaced but the problem is with
center-back Mertesacker as Arsenal are currently short of center-halves plus captain
Thomas Vermaelen is set to leave the Emirates with Barcelona and Manchester United are keeping tabs on him.
New
signing Calum Chambers who can also be deployed as a center back is likely to
start the first game along with Frenchman Laurent Koscielny.
How
Arsenal will lineup in the first game?

ReplyDeleteTypical Wenger. Can anyone tell me why Podolski, Ozil and Per are not back with the club when all their German and Argentinian colleagues have? I was surprised to see that all the 6 German players in the Bayern squad played yesterday in their friendly. Schuerle is back with Chelsea, all the Dortmund players are back. What is Wenger doing? These are the mistakes we make and cause players to feel they are indispensable and that makes them not to give their all. This is not right
