Arsenal center-back Thomas Vermaelen has been on Barcelona’s radars and finally the Catalan have reached a £15million agreement with the north London side for his services. The Belgian defender will soon be heading to Spain for a medical.
Arsenal signed him for a fee around €10 million from Ajax in 2009, since then he has played 150 games in 5 seasons.
Vermaelen struggled last season at Arsenal for a regular first team spot as boss Arsene Wenger preferred Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny at the center of the defence line.
While Barcelona have already signed center back Jeremy Mathieu for £16.5million from Valencia who will be fighting with Vermaelen for a first team spot at the Camp Nou with one seat is already reserved for Gerard Pique.
