Arsenal have not signed any striker yet this summer and were strongly linked with numerous strikers before capturing Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona.
Vargas and Sanchez both represented Chile at the World Cup this summer.
Wenger told few weeks ago that he might not sign any striker in this transfer window as he believes that Yaya Sanoga and Olivier Giroud are enough capable of producing quality in front of goals along with youngster Joel Campbell.

to Tuttosport: “Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Chilean
World Cup star Eduardo Vargas. The 24-year-old impressed on international duty
this summer, netting in the stunning Group A winner over Spain in the process”
While
it was also reported that the Gunners are planning to sign him on permanent deal
for £10million.
The
24-year-old spent last season on loan at Spanish side Valencia where he scored
5 goals in 25 appearances.
Napoli
boss Rafael Benitez has no intentions of keeping Vargas as he has already have
fine striker Gonzalo Higuain, Michu and Jose Callejon.
Vargas
will be perfect candidate to bolster Arsenal’s performance in the final third.
