While
the World Cup really helped to delay the transfer acquisitions bought up by the top
European giants, the summer transfer window is on full frenzy as the war chests
are out. Weeks after Barcelona pulled the cat out of the bag by capturing Luis Suarez from Liverpool which proved to be the melting point of this transfer window,
Real Madrid have also shown their muscles by capturing the Colombian James
Rodriguez from Monaco.
We take a look at 5 most expensive transfer deals that have been done so far:-
Luis Suarez:
After
netting an impressive 31 goals for Liverpool last season and becoming the
Premier League player of the year, Luis Suarez has been the 3rd most expensive signing in the history of football. And with the front 2 also
relating to Spain, Suarez decided to follow suit. He is the 1st in our transfer
frenzy list with a "paltry" £75million amid a ban that will keep him
out of the game for some time.
James Rodriguez:
After
scoring 9 goals and assisting 12 last season for Monaco in Ligue 1, the
transfer fee for the Colombian is outrageous. Having a successful World Cup in
which he won the Golden Boot award, it was expected that Real Madrid way pay
high for this wonder kid. However, with a fee suggesting in the region of £63million , it is now well known that money needs no bounds when it comes
to the Spanish giants.
Cesc Fabregas:
With
the above 2 names belonging to South American players, a European Cesc
Fabregas makes the entry into our top 5 list. At 27 years of age and having
scored 8 goals for the Spanish giants Barcelona last season after being 2nd
fiddle to both Xavi and Iniesta, the Spaniard decided to turn to London but
this time to his former arch rivals Chelsea. He signed for the blues for a fee
in the region of £34million.
Diego Costa:
After
getting some memorable reception from his once homeland and suffering an exit
from the World Cup group stages, life started to come normal for the Brazilian
turned Spanish Diego Costa. After having a season of his life in which he
managed to score 28 goals for the LA LIGA Champions. Chelsea who were on quest
for a genuine striker since after the failure of Torres decided to put their
hopes on him. He was signed for a fee of £32million.
Luke
Shaw:
Having spent 3 years in Southampton colours with making a total of 60 appearances for the Saints, the 18 year old Englishman is the youngest player in this list. After an impressive last season at the Saint Mary stadium in which he recorded a number of decent performances for his team, he was on the wish-list of Manchester United for some time. And Man United didn’t let it long before praising the 18-year-old as he becomes the most expensive transfer signing of British with a fee surrounding in the region of £31.5 million. Ironically that is exactly the same fee what Bayern Munich paid for Mario Gotze and AC Milan paid for Legend Filippo Inzaghi.
