Chelsea
manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that the Blues striker Fernando Torres will
not be sold during this summer transfer window.
Despite
of signing two strikers this summer Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and Didier
Drogba on a free transfer Chelsea are still looking to keep
Fernando Torres in London.
Torres
was signed by Chelsea from Liverpool in 2011 for a record amount of £50
million after then he has failed to develop his name in a blue jersey. The
30-year-old has scored 45 goals in 172 games for Chelsea.
Mourinho
told that they need three strikers and all three of them are essential and will
help in the coming season.
He
replied when asked by the reported whether Torres would be sold or not, “No.
Three strikers is fundamental in a squad and we have three strikers; Fernando,
Didier and Diego so one of them is not (going) for sure.”
From
the above statement it means Chelsea are not looking for more striker but
earlier today ESPN reported that Chelsea are weighing up a move for Paris
Saints Germain striker Edinson Cavani who recently said that he is happy at PSG.
Torres will not get enough chance after Costa’s arrival, if he wants to play regular football then he will have to leave.
