Arsenal
manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal supporters will soon be seeing
a new goalkeeper at Emirates.
Wenger has said that they are still active in the market and searching for talents and a new goalkeeper is on their wish list.
Arsenal
have completed some great signings, they have signed Alexis Sanchez from
Barcelona and Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle for £33million and £12million,
respectively. And now looking for a goalkeeper who can compete with current
first choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Wenger told: “I'm very happy with what we've done up to now. It's not over, we've
still got a long way to go in the market and we will certainly bring a goalkeeper this summer.”
He
further added that he cannot reveal the names of goalkeepers he is eyeing
because no one knows who is going to come in the end.
Reports
have linked many goalkeepers to Arsenal including Liverpool’s Pepe Reina,
Colombian David Ospina and Spaniard Iker Casillas but nothing have been
concluded yet.
Reina
is in talks with Napoli while Ospina recently rejected a new offer from Nice
and is currently a free agent which is likely be a preferable choice for
Wenger. Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas might also leave Bernabeu due to lack
of time on the field.
Gunner’s
boss also told that they are also considering a center back who can replace Thomas
Vermaelen as the Belgian is expected to join Manchester United.
