According
to Daily Star, Several Premier League clubs are eyeing Chile full back Mauricio
Isla.
Arsenal
boss Arsene Wenger is still in search for a right back who can replace his
former man Bacary Sagna who joined Manchester City on a free transfer few weeks
ago. Numerous players have been shortlisted by Wenger including Ivory Coast Serge
Aurier and Manchester City Micah Richards but nothing has been concluded yet.
While
on the other hand, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is also planning to land Isla
as Glen Johnson has lost his form in the past few years. While Jon
Flanagan who played the last season mostly on a left back position might also
replace Johnson next season.
Isla played 26 games for the Serie A side Juventus in
all competitions last season. He is a versatile player, can also be used as a defensive midfielder
and mostly he played as a right defensive midfielder for Juventus last season.
The
26-year-old, who is currently playing World Cup in Brazil has won two games
with Chile and has qualified for the knockout phase along with Netherlands.
If both options are present then Isla should prefer Arsenal because Arsenal
really need a right back. He will have a better future at the Emirates than Liverpool.
