There
will be many top attackers representing their nations this summer but here are the top
players who can fight for the Golden Boot. Majority of them have proved them in
the last season. Premier League dominate the list.
Liverpool
and Premier League second top scorer Daniel Sturridge is the first choice
striker of England. The 25-year-old will have to play a vital role in front of goals
if he wants England to qualify for the knockout stage.
Robin van Persie (Netherlands and Manchester
United)
Manchester
United striker van Persie remains Netherlands’ first choice striker. The 30-year-old
scored 18 goals for United last season.
Sergio Aguero (Argentina and Manchester
City)
Sergio
Aguero scored 17 goals in only 22 games for Manchester City in last season’s
Premier League campaign. If he remains 100% fit then Argentina attacking line (Di
Maria, Aguero and Messi) will be deadly.
Neymar (Brazil and Barcelona)
Neymar,
who received the Confederation Cup Golden ball last year is the key player to
watch in this World Cup. His performances with Brazil have always proved to be
very important.
Luis Suarez (Uruguay and Liverpool)
Suarez
was debatably the best forward of Europe last season. He scored 31 goals in
Premier League and won Golden boot and PFA award. The 26-year-old
is also the top scorer of Uruguay with 38 goals.
Lionel Messi (Argentina and
Barcelona)
Despite
of his injury last season he still managed to score 28 goals in La Liga. The
four times Ballon d’Or winner has scored 38 goals in 86 games for Argentina.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal and Real
Madrid)
Ballon
d’Or winner who played the vital role in the qualifying round for Portugal scored
31 goals and topped the goal scoring chart in La Liga last season. The
29-year-old has netted 49 goals in 110 appearances for Portugal.
Other contenders:
Digeo
Costa, Wayne Rooney, Thomas Muller, Romelu Lukaku, all have the quality to fight
for the Golden Boot.
