Football News Guru have started a new series of top five players of international teams. The first article is on England.
Here are the top five England players of last decade,
majority of them are retired while one is the current captain of England.

Ashley Cole (Free agent – Left back)
After playing 338 games in 8 seasons for the London side
Chelsea, he was not offered a new contract. Cole won every trophy at
Chelsea but failed to lift any international trophy.
Cole has played 107 games for England and probably the
33-year-old will not be a part of England anymore as he is not been selected for
the World Cup Brazil.

Rio Ferdinand (Retired - Center back)
Ferdinand retired few weeks ago from professional
football after serving Manchester United for more than ten years. The 35-year-old
who won 6 Premier League titles at United played 81 matches for England.

Michael Owen (Retired – Striker)
Former Liverpool star striker Michael Owen scored 40
goals in 89 appearances for England. Owen who announced his retirement last
year played his last international game in March 2008.

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool – Center midfielder)
Gerrard is the current captain of England and has
announced that this is his last international tournament.
Gerrard, 33, is still eyeing for a Premier League
medal with his boyhood club Liverpool.
With 109 caps he is the third highest capped player.
David
Beckham (Retired – right midfielder)
Beckham, the second most capped player with 115 is on
number one. The 39-year-old scored 17 goals for England. He failed to beat Peter
Shilton’s number of caps (125).
The last game he played was in October 2009.
