After
Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in May 2013, English Champions Manchester United
have been struggling to find a replacement for the legendary manager who served
the club for 26 years. David Moyes was entrusted with the duty to retain the
club’s glory. Of course it was not an easy task, rather one of the most
difficult jobs a manger might face in his entire career.
DavidMoyes had a good squad to have a successful season, but as predicted by most of
the football pundits across the globe, things didn’t work out well for the
club. For the first time in decades the club from Manchester could not qualify
for a spot in any of the European competitions. ‘The Chosen One’ David Moyes
could not handle the pressure from the crowd and critics. In a short tenure of
10 months the Scottish manager was sacked and the legendary genius of Man
United, Ryan Giggs was appointed the interim manager of the club. He gave the
fans something to cheer for with an impressive 4-0 victory in his first game
against Norwich City.
The
same squad emerged as the English Champions in the 2012-2013 season but in this
season other teams were much superior, crushing the chances of Man United
finishing in the top 5 of the table. There has been many improvements in the
squad, especially with the signing of Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata. Young and talented,
Adnan Januzaj has shown lots of promise in the field.
Manchester
United are on the verge of appointing ex-Barcelona and Ajax manager Louis Van
Gaal. The team might have suffered throughout this season as they have failed
to maintain a consistent form this season, but with the change of managerial team,
things are looking promising for the club. The fans would be expecting a great
season ahead as the club is aiming to improve the squad, the club is more
likely to find the glory in the next season. The club would be hungry enough to
win more trophies in the next season.
