Reasons of Manchester United decline this season, Sir Alex Ferguson should have not retired this time as many players were already aged and many are out of form.

We have heard a lot this season about Manchester United and their poor form and many of them criticizing David Moyes’ strategy, lacking in midfield and poor defensive problems and injuries were also play a role of icing on cake in current Champion’s nightmare season.

Reasons of Manchester United decline this season

May be all of them were true but I  think the main reason of Manchester United poor form this season is Sir Alex Ferguson himself. I am not taking anything away from him. He is unmatched throughout his managerial career of Manchester United but the worst decision he made was the time he has chosen for his retirement. Sir Alex Ferguson retired when three of Manchester United’s best defenders (Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra) were all aged. None of them had made announcement at that time but they all were above 30 and Manchester United has to look for replacement of these three defenders. Kagawa has not proved himself in last season and Carrick is also above 30 nobody knows about when Fletcher will return and cleverly is so in consistent, Ashley Young was poor last season and Valencia was only able to score 2 goals in his whole season. The only department Manchester United was rich in is attack.

The Red Devils have won 2012-13 campaign because of Robin Van Persie and his above 20 goals. No creativity in midfield and on wings. Sir Alex Ferguson was spot on with his tactics in 2012-13 season that “score more goals than your opponents” after that we heard that Alex Ferguson said all things have done and new signing will be arriving in summer and suddenly he announced his retirement. Instead of rebuilding Manchester United’s squad and then hand-over it to any other manager he chooses to “quit”. Nobody was expecting that and that news was a shocker for United fans.

I think the best time for Sir Alex Ferguson to retire was after winning ChampionsLeague in 2008 or after two years from now. Let’s see what plans Moyes has in his mind. He has made a brave move to get Juan Mata from Chelsea but United has to spend a lot in the coming summer if they want to be in a title race next year.
